Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport (IATA: ULN, ICAO: ZMUB) is one of Mongolia's most historically significant aviation facilities. Located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Ulaanbaatar's city center in Khan-Uul District, the airport served as Mongolia's primary international gateway for decades before international passenger operations moved to Chinggis Khaan International Airport in 2021. Today, Buyant-Ukhaa continues to play an important role in Mongolia's aviation sector by supporting government aviation, general aviation, flight operations, air traffic services, maintenance, and specialized aircraft handling.
Although most international commercial flights now operate from Chinggis Khaan International Airport, Buyant-Ukhaa remains an active airport and continues to serve Mongolia's civil aviation infrastructure.
History of Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport
