Ulaanbaatar public buses are the primary mode of transportation in Mongolia’s capital city and are the most affordable way to get around. With 1,200 daily buses operated by 21 different companies, these buses serve residents and visitors across 79 routes in Ulaanbaatar.

Reliability and Crowds

Ulaanbaatar public buses are generally reliable, with frequent departures. However, some routes can get crowded, especially during rush hours:

Trolleybus fare: 500 MNT per trip
Free transfers: Up to four transfers per day, if you tap your card on each entry and exit
U-Money card price: 3,800 MNT (card is sold empty, you need to charge separately)
Charging limits: Minimum 500 MNT, maximum 90,000 MNT

Get a U-Money Bus Card
- Buy from kiosks at major bus stops or 24-hour convenience stores such as Circle K, CU, and V Point.
