Bogd Khaan Palace
Bogd Khaanii Ordon, HUD - 19 khoroo, Ulaanbaatar 17040, Mongòlia
The Bogd Khaan Palace Museum was once the winter residence of Bogd Khaan, Mongolia’s last monarch and spiritual leader. Built between 1893 and 1903, it is one of the few royal palaces that survived the political purges of the 20th century.
The complex includes six temples filled with rich artworks, thangkas, and Buddhist sculptures, along with the lavish personal belongings of the Bogd Khaan and his consort. Each building reflects a blend of traditional Mongolian architecture and Tibetan Buddhist design, offering a rare glimpse into the country’s royal and religious heritage.
Today, the palace stands as a museum of history, art, and faith, preserving the memory of a pivotal era in Mongolia’s journey from empire to modern nation.
