This granite monument stands as the official welcome to the Khentii Province (Khentii Aimag), located immediately adjacent to the large highway arch. It serves as a physical and symbolic boundary marker for those entering the "Cradle Land" of the Mongol Empire.
Literal Translation of the Inscription
The Cyrillic text carved into the stone reads:
Их эзэн Чингис хааны өлгий нутаг Хэнтий аймаг (Khentii Province, the Birthplace/Cradle Land of the Great Lord Genghis Khan)
Чингис хотод тавтай морил (Welcome to Chinggis City)
Хэрлэн сум (Kherlen District)
The Geographical Map
The lower half of the stele features a precisely carved map of the Khentii region. It highlights the administrative boundaries of the province and specifically identifies Kherlen Sum, the district you are currently standing in. The map is dotted with the names of various sub-districts and settlements, offering travelers a visual scale of the vast, historic territory they are about to traverse.

The Crown: The top of the stone is sculpted in a tiered, circular fashion, mimicking the Soyombo (the national symbol of Mongolia), signifying the sovereignty and eternal flame of the Mongolian people.
