When Mongolian documents are to be used in foreign countries, they must be authenticated with an Apostille certificate. This allows your documents to be legally valid in 125 member countries of the Apostille Convention without requiring any further legalization.
Required materials for obtaining an Apostille certificate:
- The original document for which the Apostille certificate is requested.
- A certified translation of the document.
- Copies of the original document and the certified translation must each be notarized separately.
(Documents notarized by only one notary public are accepted.) - If documents of a business entity or organization are being authenticated, the authorized official (Executive Director) or an employee representing the organization must come with a power of attorney.
- The power of attorney must clearly specify the representative’s information and list each document to be authenticated individually.
- For higher education diplomas, vocational education certificates, and secondary school certificates, a verification letter confirming authenticity must be provided.
- If the document is a university diploma, the verification letter can be obtained from the issuing university or through the E-Mongolia portal.
- For vocational education certificates, the verification letter may be obtained from the relevant provincial/district education department or the issuing school.
- For secondary school certificates, the verification letter may be obtained from the relevant provincial/district education office or through the E-Mongolia portal.
Important notes when preparing documents:
- The notary’s signature and stamp/seal must be clearly visible.
- Since the documents will be used abroad, they must meet quality standards:
(clear, complete, orderly, stain-free, unfolded, and clean). - The Apostille application form must be completed.

- Payments can only be made through a bank or at the payment KIOSK machines located at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Processing times:
- Urgent service: ready within 1 business day after submission.
- Regular service: ready within 3 business days.
- Electronic Apostille certificates may be requested through the E-Mongolia portal for the following 14 types of certificates:
